A Hectic Start to 2015!
Apparently we are only 3 weeks into the New Year, I say apparently because already I can’t remember Christmas, it’s fair to say that I’ve hit the ground running in 2015 and the biggest issue I have will be convincing myself that 2015 will be a marathon and not a sprint.
It would be easy to assume that this years already hectic start will continue unabated (and it might) but I think that while I’m busy now this is just the calm before the storm. Schools are not back yet and that tends to be the time when the market picks up again. So why am I so busy now? It’s an easy answer, “new year, new home syndrome”. When I was working in The West London real estate market some years ago we knew that when January 5th/6th arrived chaos would ensue. There is no long summer holiday and the busiest people were real estate agents and recruitment consultants.
Similar to a New Years resolution, people use the end of one year and the beginning of the next as a boost to make the life changing decisions, new year- new home or new year- new job. Add to that the amount of first time buyers who go home for the holidays, recognise themselves in their family and realise that now is the time to put down some roots or change their life.
